BAP Milestone: 2,000th Aquaculture Facility Certified

  The industry-leading Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program has reached a milestone, surpassing the 2,000-facility mark. There are now more than 2,000 BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills in 33 countries and six continents. Administered by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), the BAP program is growing by leaps and bounds, more than doubling in size in the past two years, from about 700 facilities at the end of 2015 to 1,500-plus facilities by the end of 2016 to 1,850 facilities at the end of 2017. Lidl US Commits To BAP As Part Of Sustainable Seafood Sourcing Policy

Best Aquaculture Practices is among the third-party certification programs that Lidl US has committed to as part of its sustainable seafood sourcing policy. Milestone: Number Of BAP-Certified Facilities Tops 1,500

It’s official. The number of Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified facilities has surpassed the 1,500 mark, with the addition of 67 new facilities to the third-party aquaculture certification program last month. At the end of November, there were a total of 1,527 BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills worldwide, the Global Aquaculture Alliance has announced. BAP Steps Up Logo-Policing Program

The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program has stepped up its logo-policing program with the deployment of a data-collection application to ensure that the BAP logo is being used properly on retail-ready packaging, the Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in early November. The BAP program integrity team has tapped Field Agent, a data-collection application that employs more than 700,000 “agents” worldwide to gather samples of data via crowdsourcing. Number Of New BAP-Certified Facilities Hits Monthly Record

A record 74 new processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills attained Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification in June, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) has announced. The monthly record came as the number of BAP-certified facilities worldwide reached 1,290 at the end of June. That amounted to an impressive 22 percent increase during the first half of 2016.
