First Salmon Producer Certified Under New Two-Year BAP Group Audit

Cooke Aquaculture is the world’s first salmon producer to earn Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification under the new two-year BAP group audit, which is designed specifically for salmon producers. In total, 19 salmon farm sites in Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland attained BAP certification. This is largest BAP group audit for salmon farms to date. Number Of New BAP-Certified Facilities Hits Monthly Record

A record 74 new processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills attained Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification in June, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) has announced. The monthly record came as the number of BAP-certified facilities worldwide reached 1,290 at the end of June. That amounted to an impressive 22 percent increase during the first half of 2016. Group, ‘Barrio’ Certifications Focus Of Puerto Montt BAP Seminar

The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) team just wrapped up a successful two-day seminar on the BAP third-party certification program at the Puerto Montt Manquehue Hotel in Puerto Montt, Chile, drawing 12 senior auditors and 15 industry observers. The course centered on two species, salmon and mussels, and two types of BAP certification, group and multi-site zone cluster, or “barrio,” certification. Chilean Farms First To Complete Multi-Site Zone Cluster Program

Marine Harvest Chile has completed the Best Aquaculture Practices’ (BAP) new multi-site zone cluster program, resulting in nine of its salmon farm sites and two of its processing plants attaining BAP certification, the Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in early February. Special Auditor Training Course Scheduled for Puerto Montt

Due to enthusiastic support for group and multi-site zone cluster, or “barrio,” certifications, the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) division is offering a special auditor training course for its group and barrio certification programs. The course will be held at Hotel Manquehue in Puerto Montt, Chile, from March 30 to 31. This course will be offered to a select group of auditors who are qualified to perform group and barrio audits.
