Finger Lakes Fish’s LocalCoho™ Is World’s First RAS Coho Salmon Farm to be Awarded BAP

Congratulations to Finger Lakes Fish Inc., the world’s first recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) coho salmon farm to be awarded Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, the Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in early October. Finger Lakes Fish is raising coho salmon in a 43,000-square-foot land-based farm in Auburn, New York. Anniversary: Five Years Of BAP-Certified Salmon Farms

British Columbia’s salmon-farming industry is celebrating five years of commitment to the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program with the five-year anniversary of the world’s first BAP-certified salmon farm. Cermaq Canada’s Brent Island salmon farm, located near Campbell River, British Columbia, attained BAP certification five years ago this month, becoming the first farm to do so since the adoption of the BAP salmon farm standards in June 2011. First Salmon Producer Certified Under New Two-Year BAP Group Audit

Cooke Aquaculture is the world’s first salmon producer to earn Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification under the new two-year BAP group audit, which is designed specifically for salmon producers. In total, 19 salmon farm sites in Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland attained BAP certification. This is largest BAP group audit for salmon farms to date.
