BAP Program Grows 29 Percent in 2018

It’s official. The industry-leading Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program closed out 2018 on a high note, finishing up the year with 2,287 BAP-certified facilities worldwide. Of the 2,287 BAP-certified facilities, 1,534 are farms, 370 are processing plants, 45 are re-processing plants, 220 are hatcheries and 118 are feed mills. Additionally, there are 245 farms that were previously BAP-certified but are currently in fallow. The 1,500-plus farms represent more than 1.5 million metric tons of production annually. One-Week BAP Seafood Promotion on JD.com a Success

  Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) has just wrapped up a successful one-week promotion with e-commerce giant JD.com that resulted in $60,000 dollars in sales of BAP seafood. The promotion stems from an agreement that the Global Aquaculture Alliance, which administers the BAP third-party aquaculture certification program, inked with JD.com in March 2017 in which the two parties pledged to work together to raise awareness of responsible aquaculture and food safety amongst Chinese consumers. BAP Program Grew 47 Percent In 2016

The number of Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified facilities jumped 47 percent in 2016, the Global Aquaculture Alliance announced on Feb. 6. The third-party aquaculture certification program ended 2016 with 1,559 BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills, up from 1,058 BAP-certified facilities at the end of 2015. Milestone: Number Of BAP-Certified Facilities Tops 1,500

It’s official. The number of Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified facilities has surpassed the 1,500 mark, with the addition of 67 new facilities to the third-party aquaculture certification program last month. At the end of November, there were a total of 1,527 BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills worldwide, the Global Aquaculture Alliance has announced.
