The Global Aquaculture Alliance’s (GAA) Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) division is holding a BAP Stakeholder Meeting & Luncheon at GAA’s GOAL 2018 conference in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The meeting and luncheon will take place at the opening of GOAL 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is pleased to announce that it has inked a strategic agreement with Yonghui Fuping Yunshang Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd., one of China’s leading suppliers of fresh food to retail, whereby the two organizations will work closely together to promote responsible aquaculture and product originating from GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification program as well as to improve the transparency, safety and sustainability of the farmed seafood supply chain. What BAP-Certified Facilities are Saying About Us

Initial results from a survey conducted by the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) program show the benefits facilities have experienced from becoming BAP certified. Among the most common benefits facilities mentioned are increased sales and access to new markets, improved business practices and increased customer trust. The infographic below shows testimonials from some of the facilities that participated in the survey. More than 40 responses have been received so far, and BAP is still looking for feedback. Control Union Peru Is BAP’s Sixth Accredited Certification Body

Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) has added Control Union Peru (CUP) to its team of independent, third-party certification bodies (CBs), making it the sixth CB accredited to audit and certify aquaculture facilities against the BAP standards, the Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in late July. “We are pleased to have Control Union Peru join our program as an experienced certification body. One-Week BAP Seafood Promotion on JD.com a Success

  Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) has just wrapped up a successful one-week promotion with e-commerce giant JD.com that resulted in $60,000 dollars in sales of BAP seafood. The promotion stems from an agreement that the Global Aquaculture Alliance, which administers the BAP third-party aquaculture certification program, inked with JD.com in March 2017 in which the two parties pledged to work together to raise awareness of responsible aquaculture and food safety amongst Chinese consumers. BAP Program Grows 29 Percent in 2018

Mid-Year Review: Number of BAP-Certified Facilities Up 14.3 Percent

With the first half of 2018 in the books, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is pleased to announce that the number of Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified facilities is up 14.3 percent this year. At the end of June, there were 2,079 BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills in 34 countries and six continents. That’s up from 1,819 at the end of 2017. Of the 2,079, 1,343 are farms, 411 are processing plants, 212 are hatcheries and 113 are feed mills.
