Marine Harvest Canada Earns Three-Star BAP Certification

July, 2013 The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) in early July congratulated Marine Harvest Canada (MHC) for becoming British Columbia’s first salmon company to achieve three-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. On July 3, MHC’s Port Hardy processing plant earned BAP certification, joining the company’s BAP-certified salmon farms and the Skretting Canada feed mill from which it sources feed. Chile’s Blumar Earns Three-Star BAP Certification

June, 2013 The Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in early June that Blumar S.A. is the third salmon company in Chile to achieve three-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. Blumar’s processing plant in Concepcion, Chile, recently earned BAP certification, joining the company’s 11 BAP-certified salmon farm sites and the four BAP-certified feed mills from which it sources feed — Biomar Chile S.A.’s Planta Castro and Planta Pargua facilities, EWOS Chile Alimentos Ltda. and Nutreco Chile S.A.’s Orsorno facility. Chile’s Multiexport Foods Earns Two-Star BAP Certification

May, 2013 The Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in early May that Multiexport Foods S.A. has achieved two-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. Six Multiexport salmon farms in Chile recently earned BAP certification, joining the company’s processing plant in Puerto Montt, Chile, which was the world’s first salmon processing plant to receive BAP certification in January 2012. Norway Plant Earns First BAP Salmon-Processing Certification in Europe

January, 2013 The Global Aquaculture Alliance announced in mid-January that Norway’s Vikenco AS is Europe’s first salmon-processing plant to achieve Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. Vikenco’s facility, located in Norway’s Romsdal region, in the northern part of western Norway, recently received BAP certification.
