U.S.-based SouthFresh Aquaculture is one step closer to being eligible to offer three-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) catfish. SouthFresh Feeds enrolled its feed mill in the iBAP program earlier this year, a precursor to the BAP certification program. The iBAP program is a deadline-driven plan providing technical support for facilities committed to full BAP certification. Largest U.S. Catfish Processor Earns BAP Certification For Live Fish Plant

November, 2013 Heartland Catfish Co.—the United States’ largest catfish farming and processing company—has attained Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for its Mississippi processing plant, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) announced in mid-November. The Itta Bena, Mississippi, plant processes live catfish. Heartland Catfish processes 60 million to 75 million pounds (27 million to 34 million kilograms) of live fish per year from farms located in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.
