The Global Aquaculture Alliance on June 15 announced the release of Issue 3.0 of its Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) Feed Mill Standard. This widely adopted standard has been strengthened to reflect the growing reliance of aquaculture on responsibly produced feed. Expectations continue to rise for accountability in the sourcing of marine and terrestrial ingredients, and this is reflected in ever stricter sourcing requirements. Deyan Is World’s First To Offer Two-Star BAP Crayfish

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is pleased to announce that China’s Deyan Aquatic Products & Food Co. Ltd. is the world’s first company eligible to offer two-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) crayfish. Deyan earned the distinction when two of its processing plants, and two of its farms attained BAP certification in the spring, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Deyan is located in central China’s Hubei province, an area hard hit by COVID-19. BAP Extends Deadline to Transition to New Logo

The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) program has decided to extend its original deadline for producers and partners to transition over to the new logo design, introduced last year. As many companies have had unforeseen challenges this year with addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, this decision was made to help mitigate any additional inconveniences brought about by the logo change-over. Users of the BAP logo now have until January 1, 2021 to make the transition to the new logo design (the original deadline was in October of 2020). Beiguo Is Latest Chinese Retailer To Commit To BAP

Shijiazhuang Beiguo Supermarket has pledged to source seafood from Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified facilities as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that the Shijiazhuang-based supermarket chain, known as Beiguo, signed with the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) on May 28. Beiguo has agreed to begin sourcing BAP seafood and to gradually expand the percentage of BAP seafood that it sources to strengthen its commitment to responsible seafood.
