The Scottish Salmon Company Is First In Europe To Earn Four-Star BAP

The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) is the United Kingdom’s and Europe’s first salmon producer to earn four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) status. Sixteen of the company’s hatcheries recently earned BAP certification, the fourth and final step in attaining four-star BAP status, as facilities at each of the four levels of the aquaculture production chain are BAP certified. Bantianyao Is Latest Chinese Restaurant Chain To Endorse BAP

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is pleased to announce that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bantianyao whereby the Chinese restaurant chain has pledged to incorporate the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program into its responsible seafood sourcing policy. The BAP program continues to make inroads in the Chinese market, with a total of 33 retail and foodservice companies in China committed to sourcing BAP seafood. Shrimp Farmer First In Australia To Earn Four-Star BAP Status

The Global Aquaculture Alliance is pleased to announce that Seafarms Group Ltd. is the first Australian prawn company to achieve four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification across its entire aquaculture production chain. Seafarms is one of Australia’s largest producers of farmed prawns operating across four locations in northern Australia. The company’s annual production is around 1,500 tons and is distributed and sold nationally as Crystal Bay® prawns. BAP certification has been awarded across all Seafarms’ Queensland facilities, including its hatchery at Innisfail, its farms at Cardwell and Ingham, and its processing plant at Cardwell. Shenzhen Pengcheng Marine Products Further Commits to BAP

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) and Shenzhen Pengcheng Marine Products Co. Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) whereby the Chinese company has furthered its commitment to the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program, GAA announced in early April. Pengcheng is already sourcing shrimp from Vietnam and salmon and mussels from Chile that originate from BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills. With the MoU, Pengcheng has pledged to source more seafood from BAP-certified facilities, expanding the availability of BAP product in the Chinese market.
